How to use

Using our business loan calculator is incredibly simple and designed specifically for SMEs to forecast their financial obligations quickly. Start by entering the total loan amount you intend to borrow. This should be the exact principal you need from the bank or lender. Next, input the annual interest rate offered to you, making sure it is the yearly percentage rate (APR) and not a monthly rate. Finally, enter the loan term in months to see the complete breakdown.

Once you have entered all three required fields, the calculator will immediately process the numbers using the standard EMI formula. The results will highlight your exact fixed monthly payment, the total amount of interest you will pay over the lifespan of the loan, and the grand total repayment amount. By clearly understanding these figures, business owners can determine whether the debt service fits comfortably within their monthly cash flow and adjust the term or principal as needed to stay financially healthy.

For a larger investment like purchasing factory equipment, a 2 billion VND loan at an 8.5% rate over 60 months requires a monthly payment of approximately 41.03 million VND. The extended 5-year term makes the monthly cash outflow manageable but results in a total interest cost of over 461 million VND.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is EMI and how does it affect my business cash flow?

EMI stands for Equated Monthly Installment. It is a fixed payment amount made by a borrower to a lender at a specified date each calendar month. Equated monthly installments are applied to both interest and principal each month so that over a specified number of years, the loan is paid off in full. For businesses, knowing your exact EMI is crucial for planning your monthly operational cash flow effectively without any unexpected shortfalls.

Can I use this calculator for a line of credit or floating rate loans?

This calculator is specifically designed for fixed-rate term loans where the interest rate and the monthly payments remain constant throughout the duration of the loan. Lines of credit and floating or variable-rate loans have changing interest charges based on your usage and the current market rates, making a fixed EMI calculator inaccurate for those specific types of financial products.

Why is the total interest so high on longer loan terms?

When you extend the loan term to reduce your monthly payment, the principal amount is paid down much slower. This means that interest accrues on a higher outstanding balance for a significantly longer period of time. Consequently, even though your monthly financial burden seems lighter, the total cost of borrowing increases substantially over the life of the loan.

Is the interest rate required here the monthly or the annual rate?

You must enter the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) or the yearly interest rate in the calculator. Our system automatically divides this annual rate by twelve to determine the appropriate monthly interest rate used in the standard amortization formula. Entering a monthly rate directly into the annual field will result in incorrect, heavily understated payment calculations.
